GRINGE, THE SEASONAL GROUP

Brief

To create an life size character to be fully interactive within a Christmas display.

Process

Starting with clay, I sculpted the head then created a plaster mould from the sculpt. Carefully taking out the clay and giving it a good clean, I then poured latex into the void.

Process

After around 4 hours, I drain all the latex out , leaving a thin skin inside the wall of the mould.

Once dry, I then pull the mask out of the mould and begin cleaning it up ready for airbrushing.

After the painting is done, then the hair can be applied and also the glass eyes.

Finishing

The costume is then made and then added to all the metal animatronic frame work.

The final piece, once a button is pressed , then leans forward, reaches out and talks to the other interactive character within the display.
